Mahmud Tantoush
Dr Mahmud Tantoush is a Senior Lecturer at the Manchester School of Architecture (MSA). His work bridges research, design, and professional practice, developing evidence-based approaches to design and planning that integrate AI, urban big data, and complexity science to inform sustainable and resilient future cities. He leads the [CPU]Ai studio at the MSA, focusing on computational design and urban analytics, and directs MArch Year 2 (RIBA Part 2) design studios in collaboration with leading national practices. His research has contributed to Horizon Europe and UKRI-funded projects.
Research focus: developing and using new analytical frameworks that combine data, expert knowledge, and theoretical models to explore patterns and complexity for design and planning to inform future cities.
